Watercolor Business Mentorship

Three months of one-on-one work for artists ready to build a business around their watercolor practice.

You taught yourself to paint. Now you're teaching yourself everything else.

You figured out watercolor on your own. Hours at the kitchen table, YouTube, a thousand ruined sheets of paper. But you're still not sure if you're doing it right... and there's this other question starting to sneak into consciousness.

How do I get this out into the world?

None of that is on YouTube in a way that fits your actual situation. And you don't need another course. You need someone who has done it ~ to sit down with you and work through your specific business, week after week.

A three-month mentorship for artists and creative entrepreneurs

You and Jaime meet two hours each week. Early on she'll help you name your long-term goals and positioning statement. The next 12 weeks will be working to meet those targets and/or reassessing whats needed.

Through this process, Jaime offers accountability, steady guidance, and real-time feedback as challenges come up.

One session may be dedicated to painting together to bring your watercolor up to industry standard. The next, it's marketing strategy and bringing in more business. The agenda stays flexible enough to hold both your immediate deadlines and the longer arc of where you're headed.

A little about Jaime...

There's no tidy version of how I got here.

I've licensed work with Urban Outfitters, Deny Designs, and Zola, among others. I built a profitable invitation design studio. I've taught watercolor experiences for Auberge Resorts, Jenni Kayne, and LoveShackFancy ~ each of those started as a cold pitch.

I license artwork for greeting cards and paper goods, sold originals and prints, and teach both online and around Austin. I've built all of it while raising two kids and consistently realigning my business to my values.

Along the way I've gathered a network of artists, designers, printers, and makers I can call on your behalf when you need an answer I don't have.

Mostly I'm here to offer steady guidance, honest feedback, and a partner for when you feel like you're screaming into a void and throwing spaghetti at the wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an experienced painter?

You should be fairly comfortable with watercolor. If you're a complete beginner, it may be best to start with a private class or a workshop.

Do I need to already have a business?

No. Some mentees arrive with a client list and pricing problems. Others arrive with a body of work and a hunch about where it could go. Both work.

Is this online or in-person?

This mentorship is designed to be in person in Austin. Jaime holds one remote spot per season, so if you're outside Austin and this feels like a fit, reach out.

How is this different from a course?

There is no curriculum and nothing is pre-recorded. The agenda is built around your actual projects and deadlines, and it changes as they change.

Can I continue after three months?

Yes. Each person can reassess at the end and decide if they would like to renew for 3 additional months or a month by month basis.

What kinds of businesses have you helped build?

Wedding stationery and invitation design, greeting card lines, art licensing portfolios, wallpaper and surface pattern work, print and product lines, and teaching practices.

What if we're not the right fit?

The discovery call is such an important part of this process. Understanding where you are and hearing what I offer will help determine if this mentorship is what you need most right now. As a business owner I know there are many expenses that need your time and money. I want this to be something that brings incredible value to that time and return on investment. If after one month we determine this isn't the right fit, we can annul our agreement and you are not responsible for the additional monthly payments.
